Member American Society of Plastic Surgeons

Dr. Ma’s passion for her work and her patients led her to open the doors to Peachtree Plastic Surgery in May 2002. Her goal was to establish a practice based on her philosophy of combining expertise in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery with excellent, personalized care. Building relationships with her patients is of the utmost importance, and it shows through the rapport Dr. Ma shares with them. In fact, most are comfortable calling her “Grace”. Consultations are never rushed and every individual receives the undivided attention of someone they trust.

“I don’t hesitate for one second to pick up the phone when a patient calls me,” says Dr. Ma. “I want my patients to know they can call me anytime and that I will be there for them. I understand their personal health issues and aesthetic goals and I’m able to give advice, offer guidance and answer questions. And I hire and train my staff to take the same approach with our patients, delivering the best total care for patients and their families that we possibly can.

“My desire and goal is to restore a healthy, natural, more youthful appearance,” continued Dr. Ma. “I like to think of myself as my patients’ partner in achieving beautiful results. No matter what your concern, the aging process, post pregnancy or weight loss changes, or the effect of an illness or accident — I’m committed to finding a solution that’s right for you,” she says. “I thoroughly enjoy watching patients leave my office with a renewed sense of confidence and well-being. That’s what being a surgeon is all about.”

Dr. Ma has performed thousands of procedures for people throughout the Atlanta metropolitan area and across the United States. Her extensive training, attention to detail and artistic touch produce exceptional results that are described by her patients as “life changing”.

While the DIEP flap method of breast reconstruction is well-established in many areas of the country, Dr. Ma was the first plastic surgeon in Atlanta to bring the procedure to Piedmont Hospital and to establish the program at this facility, performing it on a regular basis. In collaboration with Dr. Sean Boutros of Houston, Peachtree Plastic Surgery has become the leader in DIEP flap surgeries in the state of Georgia with a strong record of surgical success and patient satisfaction.

Dr. Ma, her husband Chris, and son Evan reside in Atlanta. They are known for their people-oriented approach to business and are passionately active in local community concerns. Dr. Ma’s hobbies are teaching others, playing the piano, horse-back riding and snow-skiing.

Dr. Grace Ma received a degree in Biology from MIT. She is a graduate of the New York University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in general surgery at NYU’s department of surgery. During her training, she also completed a two-year fellowship in surgical oncology at the National Cancer Institute. She completed a second residency in plastic, reconstructive and maxillofacial surgery at Emory University.

Dr. Ma is one of only a handful of plastic surgeons with her level of specialty training, having also completed a two year specialty fellowship in Surgical Oncology at the prestigious National Cancer Institute in Bethesda, Maryland. She is double board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and by the American Board of Surgery.

In addition, Dr. Ma has gained unique experience in breast surgery procedures and has been published in multiple scientific and medical publications. She has also presented both nationally, at the Annual Breast Symposium, American Society of Surgical Oncology Meeting, the American Society of Breast Surgeons and the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress, as well as internationally at the Oncoplastic Breast Reconstructive Surgery meeting in Nottingham, England.

She remains active in academic achievements and research that include reconstructive and cosmetic breast surgery for women with breast cancer, breast reduction surgery, breast augmentation and breast lift surgery, liposuction and abdominoplasty. In addition, she has been involved in many different medical research programs on metabolism, oncology and anesthesiology.

Dr. Ma is currently a medical staff member at Piedmont Hospital, Emory Midtown Hospital as well as Northside Hospital. She is an active member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Plastic Surgery and is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons.

“You are a blessing to us and this city!”
